Traveling Safely and Ethically
Your safety and comfort are tremendously important to us. That is why we maintain the highest quality of service possible, from carefully designing itineraries for proper acclimatization, to upholding the most scrupulous sanitary standards while preparing and cooking meals. Our guides are trained for backcountry emergencies, educated in altitude sickness and well versed in the politics, cultural considerations and customs surrounding their region of travel. As guests to the areas we encounter, INFINITO SUR recognizes the magnitude of our environmental and cultural impact. It is therefore extremely important that our groups adhere to the "Leave No Trace" travel and camping techniques in passing through local and foreign lands. We endeavor to be role models for those around us and hope that our travels contribute to awareness and change needed for reducing the impact of future tourism.
Pricing
In an effort to minimize your in-country expenses on international trips, INFINITO SUR has increased the services we include in the land costs. And with the exception of Aconcogua, porter support is included on all South American adventures. Land costs include all hotel and camping expenses, staff and guide services, group gear, in-country airport transfers, as well as all scheduled activities during your trip (museum visits, city tours, etc). These and other additional inclusions eliminates the "hidden costs" often associated with many expeditions and the frustration felt from spending more than you had budgeted for in-country expenses.
Flexible schedule on the mountain
We already stated that INFINITO SUR plans sufficient weather and acclimatization days for the every expedition trip. In the best case scenario, providing that weather is superb and everyone acclimatizes well, we may be ahead of schedule. On the other hand, we may need to use every day of the trip due to weather, acclimatization etc. Our unique flexibility makes Patagonia Xpress far ahead in this aspect. We communicate directly with our mule manager from anywhere on the mountain. After summiting, we request our mules via VHF radios or satellite phone proven to be essential to the success of the expedition. Imagine finally you have your calm day to go for the summit, after waiting several days at High Camp for the weather to clear, but instead having to go back to Base Camp because your mules are scheduled to pick your gear up at Base
Camp that day! Or imagine finishing your climb 3 days earlier but you still have to wait in Base Camp 3 more days until your mules arrive. With our flexible schedule we have the unique advantage to achieve a successful climb and to get you back to civilization as efficiently as possible.
