This approximately 170 Km trek taking around 10 days follow horse tracks through the remote back country along the Chilean-argentine border. It was pretty much used in the past but after the carretera austral construction was practically abandoned. It will be the act of living the past, the same way the pioneers came the first time to this region.
The route leads south from Cochrane past Lago Esmeralda and Monte Cochrane, or San Lorenzo, 3706m. Then follows Río Bravo to cross a pass. It continues down the río Bravo before heading off south-east past lago Alegre, Guitarra, Cristie, and Riñón to the Río Mayer and on to Villa O'Higgins.

Occasionally settler's farms are passed but most of the country is uninhabited. The contact with locals is a great price for the trekkers looking for something really authentic. This trip is just for experienced back country trekkers and we will use horses for loading the camping stuff.
