Illampu Circuit

This circuit goes around the Illampu-Ancohuma Massif. It is a moderate itinerary with 3 passes above 4000m/13,200ft and one above 5000m/16,500ft, climbing a total of 4260m/14,058ft between ascents and descents. It is worth the effort because the imposing view of the mountains and the possibility of seeing condors, vizcachas and Andean geese. Begins and concludes in Sorata, a beautiful colonial town at 2678m/8,837ft.

Day 1. Arrival to La Paz
Day 2: Jeep to Copacabana (Titicaca Lake).
Day 3: Trekking into the Sol island.
Day 4: Jeep from Copacabana to Sorata.3 1/ 2hs. Night in Sorata.
Day 5: Trekking to Lakathiya.5hs.
Day 6: Trekking to Ancoma hot springs .4-5hs.
Day 7: Trekking to the fields before Cocoyo.6hs.
Day 8: Trekking to Chajolpaya.3-4 hs.
Day 9: Trekking to Chojña Khota lagoon.6-7 hs.
Day 10: Trekking to Millipaya.6h.
Day 11: Descent to Sorata.6hs. Night in Sorata
Day 12: Jeep back to La Paz
Day 13: Free day in La Paz
Day 14: Fly home
